Description

The Information Technology (IT) Specialist will be responsible for establishing planning, coordinating, and managing the computing and technology resources functions company wide. This newly created role reports to the VP of Operations and will work with both Executive and Senior leadership to establish robust IT policies and procedures for a quickly growing biotech company. The IT Specialist will oversee IT daily operations, ensuring system functionality, security, and compliance. They will manage IT development, including vendor relations and asset management, while supporting staff through troubleshooting, training, and onboarding. Additionally, the role involves leading cybersecurity efforts, implementing disaster recovery plans, and recommending IT strategies to align with organizational goals. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a qualified candidate to leverage their expertise in a dynamic and rapidly growing company, thereby contributing to its success and growth.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS, IT, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 2 year experience in desktop hardware and PC/Mac application support within a networked environment
  • Expert knowledge and management of Microsoft Windows and Office 365, Windows Server, Email Administration, Network Monitoring, VPN, firewall, LAN/WAN Networking Concepts
  • Proficient with troubleshooting hardware/software issues including removal/replacement of hard drives, memory, etc. for both laptop and desktop computers.
  • Own and manage company systems, by defining appropriate permissions and authoring SOPs
  • Strong organization, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Proven problem solving with attention to detail and follow-up
  • Bonus skills: Relational Database Creation/Administration, CFR21 Part 11 compliance knowledge

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, including hardware, software, and networking systems.
  • Responsible for IT development including contract negotiations, product evaluation and purchase of hardware/software.
  • Data and permissions auditing, including integrity and backup
  • Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures
  • Data and permissions auditing, including integrity and backup. (Specifically relating to configuration/administration for part 11 compliance.)
  • Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes.
  • Help with onboarding and offboarding of employees, including installation all new technology for the company or for new hires (e.g., computer operating systems, software programs and applications)
  • Provide general IT support to staff and, when needed, diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Install, configure, and sustain ongoing usability of desktop/laptop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines, including planning and reporting the cost of replacing or updating computer items
  • Perform local security officer and system administrator duties to ensure staff have appropriate system access
  • Implement and maintain an asset management system through data entry, keeping it up to date for all assets and services through their life cycle
  • Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
  • Assist in the organization and inventory of all desktop hardware and software resources
  • Support users in the use of computer equipment by providing training and advice
  • Take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues
  • Lead cybersecurity auditing and compliance-related activities, including threat detection and response. Provide recommendations to leadership for buy-in and implementation.
  • Work with vendors and staff to complete a variety of IT security maintenance tasks, including: Email security, Firewall security, Cloud services security, Multi-factor authentication
  • Working knowledge of relevant operating systems, software and programming

Salary and Benefits:

Salary Range: $80,000K - $110,000K per annum DOE and alignment with current and future responsibilities.
