TITLE: Construction Accountant

JOB SUMMARY:

Our Construction Accountant has a variety of roles which include overseeing the day-to-day office functions, managing the accounts payable, preparing contracts, and completing monthly construction draws. Our ideal candidate can manage efficiently with minimal oversight and a high degree of accuracy. Previous experience in construction and with construction software is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Answering phones, opening & distributing mail, and completing credit applications.
• Entering accounts payable invoices, reviewing statements, and cutting checks.
• Creating construction contracts for final review and distribution.
• Managing the collection of W9‘s, Certificates of Insurance, and lien waivers from subcontractors.
• Using construction software to create and track commitments, purchase orders, and change orders.
• Reviewing pay requests and preparing monthly construction draws.
• Managing & monitoring the project budgets and schedule of values to ensure the costs align.
• Providing the required paperwork including sworn construction statements, distribution forms, and lien waivers to the title companies and banks.
• Assisting in the review of new hire resumes and setting up interviews.
• Coordinating with the owner to complete the necessary HR paperwork and setting up a workspace for new employees.
• Collecting and preparing marketing content for both the website and social media.
• Communicating daily with project managers and subcontractors to answer questions or address concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Proven work experience in accounting, Administrative Assistant, or Office Manager.
• Previous experience in construction and with construction software.
• Strong understanding of financial principles and practices
• Solid knowledge of MS Office, specifically MS Excel.
• Experience using QuickBooks or other bookkeeping software.
• Highly dependable and detail oriented.
• Ability to shift and manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently and collectively as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
• Organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
• Highly motivated with strong leadership skills.
• Hands-on experience with office equipment.
