Keswick Hall is Hiring a Maintenance Engineer Near Charlottesville, VA

Keswick Hall & Club is currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal and safety of our property through various maintenance tasks, including painting, surface preparation, minor repairs, and adherence to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to upholding our standards of excellence in hospitality.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain property color scheme specifications, match shades of areas.
  • Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as bare wood or metal, for finish coats.
  • Cover surfaces with appropriate material for protection during painting and posts appropriate paint signs.
  • Clean up and store paint and painting tools and equipment in appropriate areas.
  • Use proper equipment, wear appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employ correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
  • Take care of the area when the front of the house area-painting job is being carried out.
  • Complete appropriate safety training and certifications to perform work tasks.
  • Replace light fixtures, lamp cords, low voltage path lighting, and other electrical fixtures as needed.
  • Perform light general building maintenance as needed.
  • Report work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.
  • Identify and correct unsafe work procedures or conditions and/or report them to management and security/safety personnel.
  • Follow policies and procedures for the safe operation and storage of tools, equipment, and machines.
  • Perform minor repairs in guest rooms and common areas of the hotel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE Skills And AbilitiesPrevious experience working in hotel/ resort/hospitality settings preferred.
Ability to work flexible shifts.
Ability to apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel etc. to property walls, ceilings, and furniture.
Ability to effectively use brushes, spray guns, or rollers.
Able to speak to guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate and professional language.
Discuss work topics, activities, or problems with co-workers, supervisors, or managers.
SUPERVISIONPosition functions with supervision.
Education/ ExperienceMinimum of a High School diploma (or equivalent) and 0-2 years of experience
However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSConstantly standing, walking or stooping.
Ability to climb a ladder.
UNIFORM REQUIREMENTEmployees are responsible for maintaining a clean/crisp looking uniform.
