The Forsyth Institute is Hiring a Communications & Marketing Specialist Near Cambridge, MA

Description

The ADA Forsyth Institute is seeking a Communications and Marketing Specialist to join our communications and events team. The Communications and Marketing Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive content and marketing strategies that align with our organization’s goals and growth objectives. This role requires a creative and strategic thinker with excellent writing skills and a strong understanding of digital marketing and SEO best practices. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves to work collaboratively, and is a self-starter. This is a full-time, hybrid (at least 3 days on-site) position. Candidates must be available for occasional nights and weekend hours during events.

Director of Communications and External Relations

Primary Responsibilities:

Content Creation and Management

  • Develop and write engaging science stories and content for various platforms including the website, blog, and email newsletter.
    Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely publication of content across all platforms.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials and collateral as needed, including events-related content, copy for promotional materials, and social media content.
  • Manage the production of the monthly newsletter.

Content Strategy

  • Help coordinate and implement content strategies across the website, email marketing, and social media channels to support organizational goals and growth and elevate the reputation of the Institute.
  • Assist with implementing the strategic communications plan.

Team Support

  • Provide constructive feedback and editing support to team members (department coordinators and other content writers).
  • Assist the communications director in reviewing and approving all communications materials, ensuring they meet quality and brand standards.
  • Maintain project management system in collaboration with the communications director to delegate tasks and ensure efficient workflow.

Website Management and SEO

  • Oversee the management of the company website, ensuring content is up-to-date, accurate, and optimized for SEO.
  • Implement SEO best practices to improve website visibility and search engine rankings.
  • Work with external vendors on website updates and new features as needed.

Brand Management

  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication and marketing materials.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Monitor and analyze website, digital marketing and content performance using analytics tools, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement to the Director of Communications and External Relations.

Miscellaneous

  • Assist with other duties and projects as assigned, demonstrating a willingness to support the team and contribute to various tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in content creation, digital marketing, and SEO.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong storytelling skills and ability to translate complex scientific discoveries into compelling narratives for multiple stakeholder groups. Experience in biotech preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading successful communications and marketing campaigns.
  • Proficient in using WordPress and analytics tools. 
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
