Martin Law is Hiring a Legal Secretary Near Camp Hill, PA

Summary:

Martin Law is seeking a compassionate, team orientated, customer focused Legal Secretary/Assistant to assist Legal Team with secretarial and legal assistant support by entering, uploading and obtaining case information via WCAIS, formatting and filing judicial briefs, digital dictation, acquiring medical records and bills, scheduling, scanning, file preparation, and client contact.

We are seeking full time in-person coverage (Monday - Friday 9a - 5p) and are actively interviewing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Logs in medical records to client files including mail, medical records, medical bills, hearing notices, discovery, etc.
  • Schedules depositions, mediations, client appointments, referral lunches, client meetings
  • Assembles the medical index and follows up on the acquisition of medical records
  • Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact, communicating case progress
  • Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding balance with attorney, clients, and providers
  • Answers all client phone calls and addresses all questions and concerns
  • Completes all dictation transcriptions from team attorney
  • Files and answers petitions with Bureau of Workers' Compensation and/or Judge
  • Maintains appropriate case type as determined by present litigation
  • Prepares medical requests for claimant's treating physicians
  • Handles daily uploading and obtaining of relevant case information from the Bureau of Workers' Compensation management system, WCAIS
  • Enters attorney appearance via mail and/or WCAIS
  • Obtains prior workers' compensation claim history from Bureau of Workers' Compensation
  • Answers attorney direct lines and monitors email; serving as liaison between attorney and clients by resolving routine and some complex inquiries
  • Formats and files briefs at all judicial levels
  • Prepares responses to counsel, adjusters, and judges
  • Maintains continual contact with client via follow up with status reports and/or telephone calls to obtain status
  • Maintains attorney's hearing calendar as well tickler dates appropriately

Other Responsibilities

  • Responsible for responding to and scanning all incoming mail documents
  • Prep files for depositions and mediations
  • Confirm client appointments, depositions, and mediations
  • Takes new client intake calls (after 90 days on the job)
  • Closes files and then strips down the files
  • Take a picture of the client for the case file
  • Scans all documents into client files
  • Dictation
  • Schedules client appointments and/or telephone conferences

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in worker's compensation preferably in a law firm environment
  • Prior Workers' Compensation legal experience (required)
  • Prior experience with WCAIS
  • Dictation experience is a plus
  • Case management systems experience
  • Strong typing skills with an attention to accuracy
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, handle a fast-paced environment, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and computer systems such as Microsoft Office
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines
  • Possess strong writing and communication skills coupled with attention to detail.
  • Skilled in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
