Position Description: Culver-Stockton College is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for the position of Accountant. The Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the college, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and transparency in financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
· Assist the Vice President of Finance/CFO with the management of the day-to-day financial operations of the college.
· Oversee accounts and budget officers.
· Implement and maintain financial policies and procedures.
Financial Reporting:
· Prepare accurate and timely financial statements.
· Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
· Provide financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
Audit and Compliance:
· Coordinate and participate in annual financial audits.
· Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Cash Management:
· Manage cash flow and investment activities.
· Oversee banking relationships and transactions.
Student Accounts:
· Maintain and reconcile all Federal Money received and disbursed on students’ accounts.
· Monitor student refunds for Title IV money to remain in compliance with federal law.
· A/R Billing Set-Up per Term and Daily Management; Update student charges weekly and verify system generated charges.
Supervision:
· Lead of Student Accounts Team
· Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
· A Master’s Degree in an area related to accounting, business administration, or related field is preferred; a Bachelor’s Degree in one of these areas is required.
· Demonstrated experience in general accounting.
· Must possess excellent problem-solving skills, advanced written and verbal communication skills and exceptional attention to details.
· An advanced level of knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel) is required.
· Must possess an understanding and enthusiasm for the mission and vision of Culver-Stockton College
· Must exhibit the highest professional integrity and ability to work confidentially with discretion.
