Job Summary: The stock manager must have the ability and knowledge to maintain the grocery sales area and backroom area as directed by store management. This individual will supervise shelf stock ordering, stocking, and building displays.
Major duties:
· To implement and follow all grocery operations and merchandising programs.
· Orders or supervises the ordering of all grocery products to maintain adequate shelf stock.
· Sees that all grocery products are properly prepared, handled, stocked, and/or stored and that all grocery products in the backroom or top stock are checked daily.
· Receives and checks all grocery deliveries (vendors included, when necessary), as requested, upon arrival to see that all merchandise is in good condition and that correct quantities and weights are received.
· Sees that all grocery merchandise is rotated according to code dating policies.
· Sees that damaged product is sorted and separated and losses are kept to a minimum.
· Sees that the employees assigned to him/her are performing their duties as expected and that employees are relieved on time for meals, breaks, and at the end of their shifts.
· Determines Manager’s Specials consistent with quality and quantity sells items at minimum loss. Keeps the Store Director informed of all markdowns and losses.
· Assumes responsibility for the total store’s operation on the nights he/she is left in charge.
· Keeps the grocery department fixtures, equipment, and area clean and free from accident hazards at all times.
· Handles all store property and equipment in such a manner as to secure maximum use therefrom.
· Maintains courteous and friendly customer relations.
· Is responsible for seeing that all new stockers are properly trained and oriented.
· Inventory control; quarterly physical inventory
Minor duties:
· Operate ordering equipment
· Operate pallet jacks and hydraulic baler
· Perform sweeping and cleaning functions
· Collect carts from the parking lot
· Operate a cash register
· Provide carryout service to customers
· Operate telephones and intercoms and practice proper telephone etiquette.
· Follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
· Performs other duties as assigned
Relationships: Reports to Store Director. Supervises stock clerks.
