Uses hand tools and testing equipment. Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits. Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using general and specialized testing equipment. Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems. Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts including gears, brushes, and armatures. Mounts motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications. Works from drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Participates in special projects, as required. Education (1) Requires a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience. (2) Associate's Degree preferred (3) May require an Electrician's license Experience 1-3 years of related shipboard electrical experience. The likely hourly rate for this position is between $19.08 - $31.86. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
