Glimpse of the Job

The Program Coordinator I plays a pivotal role in supporting the holistic well-being and success of students by providing comprehensive case management and administrative database support to the student conduct and student support follow up processes.

This position assists the Residential Student Support Manager with student concerns and the Associate Director with managing administrative aspects of the student conduct process and utilizing rapid threat assessment training to support campus safety.

The Program Coordinator I maintains a small caseload of their own and serves as a vital liaison between students, faculty, and administrative staff to foster a supportive and conducive learning environment.

Salary : Commensurate based on hire's experience

Position Details : Duties include needed ability to climb stairs, see, use a video display terminal, talk and hear, travel from building to building.

Occasional weekend and after-hours work required. May participate in an on-call duty rotation.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience :

Bachelor’s degree

2 or more years of work experience

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Ability to collaborate effectively within a team

Strong organization skills

Strong administrative skills

Preferred Qualifications :

Master’s degree in higher education, social work, counseling, or related field

Prior experience in college student support or crisis intervention roles

Understanding of the challenges faced by college students in on-campus housing

Experience in crisis intervention, student support, or related roles

Experience with mental health training, suicide prevention training, or other related education or expertise

Strong crisis intervention skills, effective collaboration with the support team, and a proactive approach to addressing academic, mental health, and behavioral challenges faced by on-campus residents

Essential qualities include exceptional communication, strategic thinking for resource optimization, and the ability to design and implement educational initiatives

Essential Duties / Tasks :

Administration and Support - Provides administrative support for the Case Management and Student Conduct follow-up processes.

Attends meetings and creates / provides agendas in the absence of the Residential Student Support Manager. Gathers discussion items and topical materials for planning meetings related to Case Management / Student Behavior with collaborating academic and campus partners.

Creates, prepares, and updates presentations and communication materials for the area such as, but not limited to : training presentations, Student of Concern Guidebook, and education workshop documents.

Manages material for professional conference presentations and staff trainings, research publications, and assessment projects.

Assists with compiling and analyzing program statistics; assists in the maintenance of student concern records and databases.

Plans and provides logistical and administrative support for Case Management / Student Behavior / Conduct staff, meetings, and presentations.

Reserve and coordinate room reservations for trainings and workshops. Facilitates the mandated referral process at the discretion of the Residential Student Support Manager or Associate Director.

Provides case management, crisis intervention, and appropriate community referral as assigned by the Residential Student Support Manager or Associate Director.

Supports the Associate Director as necessary with training for the Student Conduct Process / Maxient. Serve as a trained Rapid Threat Assessor under the direction of the Residential Student Support Manager or Associate Director.

Use StarRez, Banner / Compass, Howdy, and other university databases to support student success. Meets directly with students regarding issues of concern as needed, which may require climbing and descending stairs in residence halls or university apartments that are not equipped with elevators.

Provides referrals to on campus and community resources as needed. Serves on department, division, and university committees as assigned.

Assists with department and other campus programming and initiatives as needed.

Analysis & Reporting - Analyzes data and creates summary reports for programs related to Case Management / Student Behavior, to assist in measuring student learning and program success as requested.

Supports efforts to develop questionnaires for purposes of conducting analysis on programs and customer satisfaction for publication and presentation.

Serves as a liaison for the student follow-up process including StarRez for staff working with student behavior, including but not limited to : Reporting, Students of Concern and Student Conduct.

Communication - Monitor and streamline operations across areas related to the student follow-up process and student conduct, eliminating duplication of efforts.

Applies, interprets, and communicates University policies and procedures for the staff and assigned areas and serves as a resource in assigned areas.

Assures the confidentiality of communications correspondence, and reports. Responds to non-routine information requests from customers and acts a resource to office and University guests.

Work with other university offices and resources to support students who reside on campus as needed or assigned. Responds to student questions about the student conduct process.
