The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix, is seeking a qualified Dental Assistant to join our amazing dental team.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Dental Assistant for the Department of Corrections, you work with our experienced Dentists to provide basic dental services to our inmate population in a compassionate and professional manner.

Duties include assisting a dentist during the examination and treatment of patients, scheduling appointments and managing daily patient flow, maintaining dental records, providing chair side assistance, maintaining dental office equipment, and performing dental laboratory procedures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
  • Work hours are 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary : Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,049.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :

  • One year of experience in a dental office or clinic; or
  • Successful completion of an accredited Dental Assisting certificate program ; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement :

All candidates mush have completed the Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) Exam as required by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.

Additional Requirement :

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement :

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must pass a background investigation.
