TELLER / CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

TELLER: Under supervision and according to institution policies and procedures, provides a variety of customer service functions involving the receipt and payment of money. Balances window transactions daily. Provides information and guidance to customers regarding the institution’s array of products and services. Has less than one year of experience.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE: Provides a wide variety of banking services to customers, refers or arranges financial services to meet customers’ diverse needs, collects and reviews applications for consumer credit, meets with customers to discuss applications, and explains financial institution credit policies. This position involves a significant amount of customer contact. The primary duties of this job are: open new accounts, service existing accounts, answer customer inquiries, sell other services, close or alter existing accounts, and resolve related customer problems. May also be knows as a retail banking representative.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position is responsible for assisting customers with banking transactions in an efficient and professional manner while maintaining the highest level of customer service. Responsible for acquiring and maintaining a working knowledge of all bank policies and procedures as well as banking regulations to help protect the bank against financial loss.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Process customer transactions including, but not limited to, deposits, withdrawals, cashing checks, loan payments, cash advances and wire transfers.

2. Issue official checks and cashier checks and record in appropriate log for audit purposes.

3. Prepare daily settlement of teller cash drawer while ensuring cash limit policies are followed.

4. Open and/or assist with opening the night depository under dual control.

5. Process night deposit transactions and maintain depository log for audit purposes.

6. Process mail deposits and return appropriate documentation to customers as requested.

7. Process telephone transactions as requested by customers.

8. Assist customers in the redemption of savings bonds.

9. Obtain necessary information for the completion of currency transaction and/or monetary log reports.

10. Assist customers with access to safe deposit boxes.

11. Accept check order and change of address requests and route to the appropriate individual and/or department.

12. Assist customers with ATM or Debit Card reissue requests.

13. Answer telephone as needed and direct calls or take messages in an efficient and professional manner.

14. Process daily work through Premier Back Counter as needed or as directed by supervisor.

15. Answer customer questions and/or direct customers to appropriate individual or department for specialized services.

16. Assist customers and non-customers with verification of funds as needed.

17. Complete monthly on-line training as well as any additional training requested or required by management.

18. Promote and cross sell bank products and services to customers, relatives and friends.

19. Perform other duties as requested by supervisor and/or senior management and CRA Representative.

20. Balance ATM, add cash as needed.

21. Open and process new demand and time deposit accounts including but not limited to checking, savings, certificates of deposit, money market accounts and IRAs, obtaining all required documentation and reports.

22. Provide customers and non-customers with information on deposit accounts, interest rates, service charges, account restrictions and other relevant information.

23. Verify and process changes to existing accounts.

24. Death Notifications and notify bookkeeping for coding.

25. Answer customer questions, research account problems and generate corrections to accounts as need or direct customers to appropriate individual or department for specialized services.

26. Resolve customer complaints and inquiries regarding balances, statements, holds, charges, etc.

27. Accept and process stop payment requests with appropriate documentation.

28. Process wire transfers.

29. Maintain Red Flag Log.

30. Create CIP files for new customers, verify ID, pull Decision Power, Red Flag, etc.

31. File CIP and account folders.

32. Answer customers questions and/or direct customers to appropriate individual or department for specialized services.

33. Assist customers and non-customers with verification of funds as needed.

34. Maintain vault security including daily opening and closing procedures.

35. Balance vault and branch cash to general ledger as needed.

36. Maintain an adequate supply of official checks and cashiers checks.

37. Complete monthly online training as well as any additional training requested or required.

38. Notify customer when cards are compromised.

39. Perform other duties as requested by supervisor and/or senior management.
