ROLE OF JOBThe purpose of this role is twofold. This role will oversee all supply chain related activity at the Cortland site while also fulfilling the Buyer role within the procurement organization. This is a leadership position, and the candidate must be able to advance the people, processes, and tools of supply chain to execute both business and functional strategy.
  • Oversee the supply chain function for the site
  • Buyer for raw materials and MRO ($5MM)
  • Warehouse operations (MRO, raw materials, finished goods)
  • Planning and scheduling processes – utilization of MRP
  • Direct reports: Storeroom Clerk
  • Other Supply Chain related projects as needed
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure raw material and MRO parts are available to support operational needs
  • Follow HEM standard processes (order to cash, procure to pay, manufacturing, etc.)
  • Ensure all master data is accurate (item master, supplier master, etc.)
  • Ensure transactional data is updated accurately and timely
  • Work closely with functional leads to implement strategic projects
  • Drive supply chain productivity
  • Meet EFS (error free service) targets
  • Champion the use of MRP to drive scheduling and procurement decisions
  • Owner of all supply chain related metrics for the site
  • Support the Plant Manager and be active part of the site leadership team
  • Ensure storeroom is managed to standards
Specialized Knowledge/Requirements
  • Supply Chain Degree or at least 5 years in purchasing / supply chain roles
  • APICS CPIM certification preferred
  • Expertise in ERP software systems maintenance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in working with external and internal customers to promote accurate processes in formal/informal situations.
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust
  • Development/training will be considered for the right candidate even if the above competencies are not met.
  • Strong technical skills in purchasing, planning, scheduling, logistics
  • Experience managing and developing people
  • Track record of process improvement
  • Strategic thinking skills – the ability to contribute to business and functional strategy
  • Experience with MRP, TMS systems, developing and managing metrics, RACIs, policies & procedures, master data management and data integrity
  • Cross-functional knowledge throughout the supply chain (manufacturing, distribution, planning, sourcing and supply, transportation)
  • Excellent problem identification and follow-through to issue resolution
  • Can work with data to identify problems
  • Proven attention to detail and objective problem-solving
  • Must have strong organization skills and be detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work responsibilities with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
