Fortis Resource Partners Inc is Hiring a Corporate Controller Near Costa Mesa, CA

Overview:

We are looking for a corporate controller who will manage all aspects of our finance group while leading and supporting the company's culture and values as we scale our company. We are seeking a high-energy, hands-on individual who can work independently and tackle key initiatives as a partner with the CEO. The candidate will be responsible for all key accounting and finance functions, including performing monthly and quarterly close activities, managing A/P, inventory, deferred revenue, producing forecasts and reports for internal and external stakeholder use, developing and monitoring KPIs, and preparing the required financial analysis. Additionally, the role includes working with the CEO on operational matters to improve customer service, performance, and profitability.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead integration and implementation of operations and accounting systems.
  • Drive business process improvement by bringing best practices to the accounting and operations functions.
  • Prepare and manage all financial forecasting, budgets, and reporting for the company including bank covenant compliance.
  • Develop and manage a detailed 13-week rolling cash flow report and a high-level 12-month cash flow forecast.
  • Assist CEO in developing and implementing creative and practical pricing and cost reduction strategies.
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to monitor business; educate staff on the importance of metrics for measuring business activities.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements on a timely basis.
  • Complete all weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll, tax, and government-required filings on a timely basis.
  • Prepare business analysis, metrics, management reporting, and Board reporting in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance as needed.
  • Manage customer billing and vendor issues in a win-win manner.
  • Manage all relationships with banks, insurance brokers, auditors, tax providers, software vendors, and other key business relationships as identified by the CEO.

Required Qualifications:

  • CPA, MBA, or similar qualification.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 8 plus years of work experience with 3 to 5 years of high-level accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP with the ability to research and implement new technical standards.
  • Advanced computer skills with a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analytics tools.
  • Development and management of key metrics, management reporting, and Board reporting.
  • Tax compliance experience (State & Federal income taxes, sales tax, etc.).
  • Experience managing bank, insurance, IT, and Audit/Tax Firm related relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Big 4 accounting or medium-sized firm experience.
  • Experience working with PE-backed businesses.
  • Experience with M&A and transaction accounting.
