Description
- Applies principles of cost accounting to conduct studies and analysis providing detailed cost information required to set manufacturing standards, report performance against those standards, and generally develop improved accuracy of production transactions and inventory valuation by performing the following duties
- The Sr. Cost Accountant will be supporting cost and management accounting including but not limited to percentage completion calculations, project accounting, financial reporting and analysis, month-end financial closing, and audit
- In addition, the position will require a robust investigative mindset and can work through efficiency improvements and opportunities as they present
- Manages preparation and execution of annual standards and monthly statistical cost rolls
- Manages process involving establishment of standard costs of new parts, and review and analysis of standard cost of existing parts
- Analyzes the purchase price variance in the general ledger
- Audits cycle count activity, selection of items to be counted, recount decisions, research of discrepancies, and reports on progress towards making improvements for greater accuracy and coverage
- Assist in preparation of inventory reports and charts for executive management
- Performs monthly closing activities including preparation of journal entries and explaining variances
- Assists in the development of procedures and controls associated with cost accounting
- Ensures Oracle system integrity and accuracy of general ledger and cost accounting data
- 5 years in a cost accounting role - needs to be comfortable being in the details
- Oracle and Oracle Project Management experience
- Percentage completion, WIP, and bill of materials experience
