Facilities DirectorFriends School of Portland seeks a facilities director to inspect, assess, and maintain the operating condition of campus facilities. This position is part of an administrative team, working closely with the Head of School and Business Manager. This is projected to be approximately a 30-hour-per-week position, which is considered full-time with full benefits at Friends School of Portland.Responsibilities:Responds to administrative work requests for completing work orders in a timely, efficient, and productive mannerAssists skilled workers as a helper in various trades for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective functioning of the work unitInspects facilities, systems, and their components for the purpose of identifying necessary repairsDevelops and implements preventive maintenance schedules for plumbing, electrical, and technical systems.Oversees the maintenance of the school-owned vehicles (2 buses for now).Maintains a record keeping system for all maintenance task scheduling and execution and completionOversees regular required regulatory inspections for elevator, alarm system, drainage and flood control, fire extinguishers, sprinklers, emergency exit lighting and other systems as necessary. Maintains the schools’ keys, locks and security systemManages trash, recycling, and compost pick up on site. Coordinates with trash/recycling/compost contracts and maintains a clear and safe path to dumpsters throughout the winter and non-winter seasons. Communicates and is responsive to needs of cleaning company which comes after schoolMaintains and does up-keep of play areas, playground equipment, gardens, orchard, and playing fields and trail system around campus. Manages tree work and plow servicesCoordinates with electricians, plumbers, and other venders(contractors?) as neededMaintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability of equipment in safe operating conditionPerforms minor repairs, builds new furniture, and paints as needed or assignedProvides support for school events, on and off campusResponds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concernsHelps organize and maintain all building storage Coordinates monthly fire drills for the schoolManages our door system (Feenics)Helps implement new initiatives with our school building and campusKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of state and local building codesTraining in mechanical and electrical systemsExperience with grounds and building maintenanceFamiliarity with HVAC and lighting systems operationAbility to lift 60 pounds and climb ladders safelyWorks well with childrenSalary:$33,000 - $37,000 for approximately 30 hours per week, flexible schedule and up for negotiationBenefits:The School will provide benefits for full time employees.
