Position: Classroom Assistant

Location: Work Options

Reports to: Training and Database Manager

This position is typically M-F with one day remote

Position Summary:

Work Options is a culinary training program for adults over 18 years of age who identify as any gender or choose not to identify. Our goal is to help individuals overcome barriers to sustainable employment by building confidence while providing resources and culinary training. This is achieved through:

• Kitchen (culinary) and classroom training
• Mind Over Matter (CBT) Classes with a Licensed Therapist
• Job Search assistance that includes resume building and mock interviews
• Case Management assistance through resource navigation and referrals, follow up for 12 mos.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Check and log voice messages
• Former Student check-ins and follow-up
• Teach Kitchen Math
• Teach the ServSafe Food Handler Course
• Teach Job Readiness Classes
• Administer ServSafe Food Handler exam
• Assemble New Student Orientation Materials
• Assemble New Student Files
• Facilitate/Set-up Training Videos (Kitchen Equipment, Knife Skills and Bloodborne Pathogens)
• Assist in the Career Center with Job Search and basic computer skills
• Assist with Resource Navigation
• Create and email Job Support and other resources to students
• Distribute and track bus tickets
• Data Entry, as needed
• Assist with other tasks, as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent communication skills; strong organizational skills
• Experience and or desire to work with individuals facing challenges such as poverty, criminal history, lack of adequate housing, etc.
• Ability to learn, receive feedback, and implement feedback in daily tasks
• Ability to model and maintain professionalism and appropriate boundaries

Salary is $25.00 hr- negotiable with Vacation, PTO, Health, Dental, Life and Disability Insurance
