JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Environmental Laboratory Specialist to provide essential microbiological testing services at the Dublin VA Medical Center. This role involves conducting surface sampling, media fill testing, and glove fingertip sampling in accordance with USP Chapter 797 standards. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely analysis and reporting, maintaining high standards of laboratory practices.

MAIN OBJECTIVES

• Perform environmental microbiological testing of surface samples, media fill testing, and glove fingertip samples as required by USP Chapter 797.
• Prepare and submit detailed lab reports within specified timelines.
• Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 certification requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and manage data reporting to support quality control and regulatory compliance.

SCHEDULE OF WORK

• Full-time position: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Excludes federal holidays, with additional provisions for emergency or extended hours as per project demands.

PLACE OF PERFORMANCE

• Work will be primarily conducted at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center, located at 1826 Veterans Blvd, Dublin, GA 31021.

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

• The initial contract period is from June 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025, with potential extension options.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience in environmental microbiology or related fields.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental microbiology testing, particularly related to USP Chapter 797 standards.
• Experience with ISO/IEC 17025 standards and certification is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to ensure accuracy and compliance in a laboratory setting.
• Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
