Aldersgate United Methodist Church is Hiring a Director of Communications Near Durham, NC

Relational

Aldersgate United Methodist Church is located at 1320 Umstead Road in northwest Durham County. The campus is active 7 days a week with various church and community ministries, including a weekday school and afterschool program.

Aldersgate UMC works to further this mission in our community and the world. This mission also applies to all staff members as they perform important functions individually and as a team, which allows Aldersgate UMC to spread God’s love.

Aldersgate is seeking a full-time Communications Director. Work hours are M - Thur, 9 am - 5 pm plus any hours outside of the agreed-upon schedule as needed.

Major qualifications and responsibilities include:

Relational

  • Works well with others, desires to be a part of a successful team
  • Collaborate with church staff and volunteers to gather stories, testimonies, and updates to share with the congregation and community.

Professional

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive internal and external communications plan that aligns with the church’s mission and goals.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to prioritize and plan workflows
  • Manages multiple projects effectively; meeting timelines, quality expectations, and shared goals.

Operational

  • Use design and marketing skills to produce high-quality content for various platforms.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across Aldersgate’s print and digital presence, internal and external communications, marketing, and public relations.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and support to church staff and congregation in producing digital, print, and written communications and content.
  • Coordinate the promotion of church events, programs, and services through multiple channels.

Functional

  • Track and report on communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns
  • Maintain and organize assets, subscriptions, licenses, and documentation
  • Responsible for prioritizing and monitoring communication budget line items

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $36,000.00 - $44,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 36 per week
