The Role:

The Assistant to the Materials Manager supports the Materials Manager in the procurement, inventory management, and logistics of raw materials and finished products. This role requires a hands-on approach, with significant time spent on the manufacturing floor to ensure smooth operations and timely availability of materials.

In this role, you will:

• Assist with the receipt, inspection, and storage of incoming materials.
• Ensure materials are accurately labeled and stored in designated locations.
• Move materials to and from the production area as needed.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and audits.
• Update inventory records in the ERP system to reflect accurate stock levels.
• Report any discrepancies or issues to the Materials Manager.
• Assist with placing orders for materials and supplies as directed by the Materials Manager.
• Follow up with suppliers on order status and delivery schedules.
• Maintain records of purchase orders and supplier communications.
• Help coordinate the logistics of material deliveries and shipments.
• Assist with loading and unloading of materials and products.
• Ensure proper documentation is completed for incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure material needs are met.
• Address any material shortages or issues promptly to avoid production delays.
• Communicate effectively with production staff regarding material availability and status.
• Maintain organized records of inventory, procurement, and logistics activities.
• Prepare reports and updates for the Materials Manager as needed.
• Assist with filing, data entry, and other administrative tasks related to materials management.

We require you to have:

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a materials handling or logistics role.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift and move materials as required.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
