Job SummaryThis position will work in the counseling department for the student resources program. They will have a passion for helping people with food insecurities and be assertive towards the needs of the food pantry.
The Pantry Assistant is a grant-funded position.
Job Duties
  • Tracks, stocks, orders, and inventories supplies under direct supervision to ensure adequate product for students.
  • Keep track of data and create reports, and communicate according to established policies.
  • Prepare and deliver pantry orders (including physical work/lifting).
  • Provide outreach and retention services to students.
  • Pre-screen students for eligibility of services, and complete required paperwork.
  • Lead marketing initiatives and promote food pantry services to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Serve as an assistant supervisor (backup) to peer mentors by assigning cases, answer questions, and oversee their work.
  • Assist student retention services for the counseling department and student resources by serving on the Student Emergency Fund committee.
  • Respond and process student resource referrals in Starfish, Maxient, and the non-academic barrier survey for food insecurity and other needs.
  • Serve as pro-card holder for the department, which would include purchasing items for the pantry as well as colleagues.
  • Lead marketing initiatives and promote food pantry services to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Serve as an occasional point of contact for individuals and groups providing information.
  • As time supports, offer general support of the counseling department and DEI center by participating in events, calling campaigns, and student outreach.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent and 1-3 years relevant experience
  • Experience working with individuals with food insecurities.
  • Experience working for non-profit organizations or in higher education.
  • Customer service, problem-solving, clear communication, and organization skills.
  • Regularly involves lifting, bending, or other physical exertion.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent organizational skills; high attention to detail; independent; self-motivated; able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with many individuals at all levels throughout the internal college environment and external business and community partners, representing himself/herself professionally and courteously.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and, in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
