Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role as an Operations Supervisor. We are a small firm, and we need all hands on deck in terms of Operations. This role will likely break down as 60% Operations, 40% Compliance, at least in the short term. When we refer to Operations we mean dealing with our Bank Custodians and Service Providers on onboarding, documentation, trade and settlement issues. There are new items that arise to be dealt with every few days and every week. The best fit will be those that can appreciate the challenges of a small entrepreneurial firm and having to learn new things. There will be a part time employee that reports to you. Delegating responsibilities and managing this person is part of this role. We currently use a Compliance Consultant, and we will most likely continue to use that firm. In terms of Compliance, you will be responsible for overseeing compliance activities, conducting risk assessments (with emphasis on protecting against trade errors), and managing reporting monthly/quarterly reporting requirements from our clients. It is our hope that you will take the title of Chief Compliance Officer from a regulatory perspective, perhaps not immediately, but within the first few months. This role is located in El Segundo, CA but offers flexibility for some remote work. You must live in Southern California in order to fulfill the in office part of the role.
Qualifications
- Experience in Operations role for buyside Investment Management firm
- Experience working with Bank Custodians in onboarding new clients
- Experience with back office and Trade Settlement
- Experience in compliance management and regulatory compliance is a plus
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of finance
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks
- Detail-oriented approach
- Ability to work independently and remotely
- Experience with SEC regulations is a plus
- Professional certification in compliance or related field is a plus
- Bachelors degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
