POSITION OVERVIEW

The Collections Specialist will facilitate collection of delinquent accounts; the Specialist will also assist in the credit granting process and customer account set-up. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a manner that will keep the employees and the community safe.
  • Identifies and tracks accounts that have been deemed delinquent.
  • Contacts large clients to obtain payments; when necessary, negotiates new payment terms or settlements.
  • Refers accounts to outside collection agency for further collection efforts as needed; assists with collections and legal actions pertaining to those accounts.
  • Generates reports as requested from management.
  • Requests and pursues payment on delinquent accounts via communication with account holder.
  • Follows established guidelines to review and update account status.
  • Maintains log of payment promises and pertinent account details; schedules follow-up communication with account holder.
  • Processes credit applications, collecting further information as needed.
  • Reviews credit references by independently validating references provided by the applicant or by using a credit reporting service.
  • Prepares recommendations for increasing or decreasing credit limits based on account holder’s payment history.
  • Determines, based on established credit guidelines, credit limit to be approved.
  • Consults with the CFO or other appropriate personnel when client credit requests exceed established guidelines.
  • Customer account set-up
  • Performs other related duties, as required.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of related experience in accounts receivable preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of state and federal laws pertaining to collection activities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Ability to exercise integrity and discretion.
  • Ability to remain professional in confrontational conversations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software program.
