Euclid Heat Treating is Hiring a Quality Lab Technician Near Euclid, OH

 
 

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

Reports to: Quality Manager

Family-owned commercial heat treater looking for Quality Inspector to assist with the straightening task. We seek a reliable employee who wants to learn and grow with a stable company. Our ideal candidate has prior experience in a factory, industrial, or machining environment, a sense of urgency combined with a want for perfection, a consistent work history, and positive work ethic.

Job summary:

In this role you will inspect parts against customer specifications and/or purchase order to ensure quality parameters are adhered to. You will perform metallurgical testing and evaluations on parts per customer specifications & industry standards. The Quality Lab Tech will be responsible for identifying, isolating, tagging, and notifying Quality Manager and Production Managers of Non-Conforming material and preventing shipment of Non-Conforming material. Provide Production support through Hardness Training, hold removals, hardness testing equipment.

Job Duties:

  • Performs Rockwell hardness tests and total case measurements on customer parts as required by the job traveler. 
  • Prepares customer part samples for metallurgical testing by cutting, rough grinding, mounting, fine grinding & polishing and if necessary, chemically etching the prepared sample.
  • Documents the results of testing. 
  • Completes all paperwork and arranges samples for outside lab testing
  • Perform calibration of all testing equipment accurately and on schedule
  • Performs equipment verification – hardness testers
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements: 

  • Ability to determine Total Case Depth using a Microscope
  •  Knowledge of how to cut, rough grind sample pieces
  • Understand how to check for part cleanliness using a Microscope
  • Fundaments of commercial materials and basic heat treatment processes
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience as metal parts inspector, or working in the heat treat industry is preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Desire to learn and advance, willingness to be trained
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
  • Standing/walking for 8 hour
  • May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, and other industrial environments
