The bar manager is responsible for keeping the bar operations running and controlling, organizing, and directing all the staff in the bar.

Role and Responsibilities

• Assume overall responsibility for the running of the Bar
• Maintain an open and accurate channel of communication with the entire management team
• Implement, control, and review all procedures relating to stock control, cash handling, purchasing, and waste disposal as relevant to the bar department
• Train new staff in methods and procedures
• Promote and practice relevant health and safety and fire safety standards
• Assess training needs and provide relevant training
• Order supplies as necessary
• Constantly strive to improve the standards of hygiene and service throughout the bar
• Maintain and/or implement new and efficient and effective work methods and systems
• Ensure all deliveries are checked in correctly and that all relevant delivery invoices are correct
• Regularly price check all beverages items bought for the operation, to ensure that we are buying at the best prices available
• Enter all invoices into the computer system
• Attend weekly meetings with senior management and other managers
• Help in any area of the Bar when circumstances dictate

Job Requirements

• Hours may vary if manager must fill in for his/her employees or if emergencies arise
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and managers
• Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand up for at least an 8-hour shift
• Work with hot, cold, and hazardous equipment as well as work with phones, computers, fax machines, copiers, and other office equipment
