Runamok is Hiring a Senior Accountant Near Fairfax, VT

Runamok is a rapidly growing, Vermont-based, specialty food manufacturer dedicated to building a premium brand focused on product innovation, flavor, and design. As Runamok continues to expand and grow, we are looking for a detail-oriented, experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at our Fairfax, VT facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and will play a crucial role in managing the general ledger, ensuring compliance, accuracy and supporting strategic financial planning.

Responsibilities: The following duties may be done independently or as a key member of the leadership team, working closely with colleagues and owners.

  • General Ledger Management:
  • Conduct month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Support the oversight of accounts payable and receivable functions.
  • Provide and implement process documents and process improvements.
  • Implement and maintain accounting systems and procedures.
  • Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Cost Accounting:
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and variances.
  • Develop and monitor standard costs for products.
  • Assist in inventory management, valuation and physical counts.
  • Financial Analysis:
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions.
  • Monitor key financial metrics and identify trends.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as required.
  • Collaboration & Systems:
  • Work closely with the operations team to understand production processes and cost drivers.
  • Partner with other departments to support overall business objectives.
  • Understand integrations from ERP and General Ledger system
  • Train and mentor junior accounting staff.

Qualifications & Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing or CPG environment a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Experience in QuickBooks, Cin7, a plus
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheet skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to handle stressful situations and strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state taxes
  • The ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • The motivation to learn and constantly improve processes, systems, and tools
  • A critical thinker with a growth mindset that has strong analytical skills
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while adapting to change quickly.
