Summary - GIS Analyst: We have an exciting opportunity available working as a GIS Analyst for an industry leading engineering firm in Kansas City. This role will be centered around working with GIS data to ensure the accuracy of the data collected in the field and later processing the data to produce distribution maps for water/wastewater collection systems.

Responsibility Summary - GIS Analyst:

  • GIS data creation and maintenance (using forms or tabular entry).
  • Review/interpret various data sources to create or verify GIS data accuracy and completeness.
  • Run geoprocessing tools to detect and correct missing or inaccurate data.
  • Complete assigned GIS projects involving production of maps, shapefiles, feature classes, graphics, tables and reports.
  • Georeference paper maps or CAD drawings where necessary.
  • Digitize features from pdf maps or aerial imagery and enter attribute information.
  • Enter and perform quality control checks on field data (forms, photos, video & database) for assigned projects.
  • Convert spatial data between coordinate systems and compile maps with appropriate coordinate systems for measurement or presentation.
  • Assist with the compilation of data and quantities for invoicing.
  • Provide accurate and thorough data entry for inspection records.
  • Maintain accurate, legible and organized records of work completed.

Qualification Summary - GIS Analyst:

  • AS, BS, or MS degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Geography, Cartography or a related field strongly preferred
  • 2-10 years of experience working in a GIS related position
  • 3 years of experience working with ArcGIS
