Job DescriptionPosition Title: 1st gradeDepartment: Puente de Hózhó Elementary SchoolSupervisor: Principal 2024-25 School Year; 1.0 FTE; Start Date: August 01, 2024 (July 29 if new to the district)
Puente de Hózhó (PdH) is looking for a dynamic, educator committed to delivering an exemplary and internationally-minded/International Baccalaureate education the public school space. PdH is a trilingual, K-5 elementary school with a Navajo Immersion Program and a Spanish-English bilingual program. We are also an Internationally Baccalaureate School. We are looking for a motivated, joyful, committed teacher to teach/lead our first-grade classroom for our Spanish/English Language Program. A belief in bilingual education, upholding culture and honoring differences, and diversity-as-an-academic-asset are cornerstones to Puente de Hózhó Elementary School, and we would love to see applicants who share this belief and want to contribute to Puente de Hózhó's philosophy of education. Knowledge or experience with International Baccalaureate and/or bilingual education preferred. this position would the English side of the Engllish/Spanish program and would partner with the Spanish side teacher.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education certification for the appropriate teaching level and subject area. (Arizona Department of Education K-8 Standard Certificate)
  • Structured English Immersion (SEI) endorsement, English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement, or Bilingual endorsement. (you have 1 year to complete this requirement)
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Bilingual preferred

PHYSICAL TASKSWork involves the performance of duties where physical exertion and movement is required to perform the aspects of the job. Assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks. Work involves sitting and moving for extended periods of time, requires moving from one location to another, reaching, bending, stooping (moving to eye level of the student), hold and grasping objects. Verbal communication ability required.
EQUIPMENT, AIDS, TOOLS, MATERIALSUses blackboards, whiteboard, easel, bulletin board, computers, video projectors, chalk, markers, and office or instructional equipment. FUSD recognizes that ever changing development of technology but expects all staff to keep abreast of changing technology opportunities and use tools and devices provided to them.
WORKING CONDITIONSIndoor – classroom environment. Outdoor – all weather conditions and temperatures. Playground environment. Contact with public, employees, children and parents. Exposure to noise, dusts, gas and fumes.
CONTROL AND SUPERVISIONMonitor control of students, communicates with families frequently about strengths and areas for growth, volunteers and/or assistant aides and paraprofessionals in the classroom, field trips, lunchroom, library, school buses and other areas.
