Florence County Government is Hiring a Public Information Officer Near Florence, SC

The Public Information Officer is responsible for writing and coordinating media releases, events, and Florence County’s social media outlets. Essential Functions:
  • Creates engaging content for media releases, social media platforms, and newsletters.
  • Provides assistance to the County Administrator and department heads to showcase programs.
  • Disseminates information to the general public as required.
  • Responsible for scheduling, attending, and organizing events.
  • Monitors media coverage on events and issued media releases and provides information when needed to various media outlets.
  • Works with county’s Sheriff’s Office and EMD PIO’s when required and Florence County’s Unified Fire District when needed.
  • Creates presentations for County Administrator and department heads.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment.
Non-Essential Functions:
  • Performs administrative duties.
  • Performs all other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Education and Work Experience
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and/or two to four years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Knowledge and skills in Public Relations, Newsletter Design, Graphic Design, and Microsoft Office.
  • Skills in public and interpersonal relations and oral and written communication is required.

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must have the ability to travel up to 15%.
