Acme Barricades is Hiring an EQUIPMENT MANAGER Near Florida, NY

Description:The Equipment Manager will oversee all aspects of the light trailer / trailer-mounted equipment maintenance program company-wide. This job requires executing the administrative functions necessary to facilitate sourcing, maintenance, repair, and distribution of approximately 3000 assets and related parts. The Equipment Manager will work closely with vendors, dealers, suppliers, and Operations to ensure efficient and cost-effective supply of equipment throughout the company, while supervising a team of 5 or more mechanics throughout Florida to meet Company objectives.
Responsibilities:
Includes, but is not limited to, the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions may be required as deemed necessary by management personnel to meet company objectives and contribute to the overall team effort.

  • Directly supervise a team consisting of one admin and approximately 5 or more mechanics working in the branches.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, directing, and demonstrating work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ensure compliance with all FMCSA and Acme Barricades fleet compliance requirements.
  • Reduce equipment downtime due to un-planned repairs.
  • Monitor and track equipment inventory at branches, both on rent and in yard.
  • Work closely with branches to determine equipment needs, ensure optimal inventory levels, and maximize utilization rates (do not oversupply equipment if other solutions are appropriate).
  • Cultivate and manage relationships at various dealers, vendors, suppliers, etc.
  • Order / source replacement parts and maintain optimal inventory levels.
  • Oversee all maintenance and inventory records.
  • Manage forecasting, budgeting, purchasing and disposal of assets.
  • Manage distribution of parts to branches.
  • Review internal repair procedures and capabilities, make recommendations to improve turn-around time on critical repairs.
  • Promote and reinforce positive safety culture via frequent interactions with personnel at all levels.
  • Contribute ideas and recommend improvements that aid in achieving objectives.

Requirements:Desired Qualifications:· 7 years relevant work experience managing equipment repair & maintenance programs.· Expert-level knowledge of repair and maintenance procedures for light trailers.· Ideal candidate has extensive working knowledge of repairing and maintaining trailers used in Maintenance of Traffic and Temporary Traffic Control industry.
Required Skills:· Hands-on experience servicing trailers and equipment.· Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.· Strong computer skills including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.· Effective negotiation skills.· Must be a resourceful problem-solver.· Highly organized and detail oriented.· Ability to develop & maintain positive relationships with team members at all levels of the company.· Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.· Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment.· Critical thinking and basic reasoning skills.· Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work in a climate-controlled office environment
  • Vision adequate (including corrected vision) to perform essential job functions
  • Hearing (including corrected hearing) adequate to understand verbal information and maintain conversations for an hour or more over a telephone to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to read and write in English to process paperwork and communicate with clients and internal customers.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must have manual dexterity required for repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Extended use of a computer, keyboard, or phone.
  • Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time, standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours), walking on varying ground surfaces.
  • Operating hand/power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, physical agility to use arms, legs, and hands repetitively.
  • Working outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions.
