Job Summary

Latham Marine has an immediate need for a Mechanical Assembler in Fort Lauderdale Florida. For over 40 years Latham Marine has been the leader in hydraulic steering systems for both high performance and pleasure boats. MUST BE MECHANICALLY INCLINED!!!

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Read, interpret and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble equipment and products
  • Handles and assembles parts using fixtures and tools.
  • Learn and perform tasks assigned by management
  • Follows all Latham safety procedures as per company policies and per the Facility Engineer/Safety Director
  • You will follow detailed assembly instructions processes and procedures and comply with all guidelines and regulatory requirements
  • You will manufacture product to high quality standards utilizing hand tools, fixtures and equipment
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
  • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.

Qualifications and Skills

  • We are looking for someone with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Good communication skills in English (both verbal & written).
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and / or work instructions.
  • Must be able to lift and push up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience using power tools
  • Familiarity with machining processes
  • Computer skills – Inventory Management software, Microsoft office
