Job Title: Project Accountant

Location: Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas

One of our clients, a leading roofing contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, specializing in commercial and residential roofing services. Who prides themselves on delivering high-quality roofing solutions with a commitment to excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Job Description: Client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Project Accountant to join our team. The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of various roofing projects, ensuring accuracy in accounting records, and supporting project managers with financial insights to drive project success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee financial aspects of multiple roofing projects from initiation to completion.
  • Prepare and review project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Monitor project costs, track expenditures, and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Perform cost analysis and provide financial insights to project managers and senior management.
  • Prepare and process project-related invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments.
  • Reconcile project accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop and maintain project schedules and timelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant regulations.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Conduct periodic audits of project financials to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of financial documentation for project bids and proposals.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation during audits.
  • Maintain accurate and organized project accounting files and documentation.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-10 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with roofing industry practices and terminology is a plus.
