Sales Manager Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager to join our team. The Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing sales strategies to attract new business and retain existing clients. This role requires a proactive professional with strong sales acumen, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the logistics and maritime industries.
Sales Manager Responsibilities
  • Business Development:

    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to increase port utilization and revenue.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including shippers, carriers, logistics providers, and industry partners.
    • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Sales Strategy:

    • Develop and execute comprehensive sales plans to achieve targets and objectives.
    • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to prospective clients.
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements with customers to secure long-term partnerships.
  • Customer Relationship Management:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
    • Address client inquiries and resolve issues promptly to maintain strong business relationships.
    • Gather feedback from clients to continuously improve service offerings and customer experience.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:

    • Work closely with internal teams, including operations, marketing, and finance, to align sales efforts with organizational goals.
    • Participate in trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
    • Provide regular sales reports and forecasts to senior management.
  • Market Expansion:

    • Explore new markets and geographic regions.
    • Identify and target emerging industries.
Sales Manager Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of sales experience in the container shipping industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
  • Strong understanding of container operations, intermodal transportation, and port logistics.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
Sales Manager Preferred Requirements
  • Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) 
  • Existing network of contacts within the container shipping and logistics industry.
  • Experience with port management software and electronic data interchange (EDI) systems.
