At CATHTIP, our objective is to develop excellence in automation, machine design, material handling, and custom tooling. The Engineering Intern position is hands-on with a focus on electro-mechanical design, assembly, and operation of equipment and tooling and performing process development, programming, and material handling under direct supervision of project engineers.

Essential Job Functions:

The internship Sample production, proof of concept work, and process development which includes:

Performing machine setups & programming of Cathtip equipment.

• Developing and testing process parameters for unique materials and applications.
• Conduct research and testing to determine machine configurations best suited for an application.
• Documenting findings and results in an appropriate format.
• Communicating outcomes with customers and other engineers within Cathtip.
• Shipping samples and results to customers.

The internship will also include various engineering projects which could provide experience in:

Machine and tooling design.

• Controls component selection and specification
• Creation of assembly and manufacturing instructions and documentation.
• Mechanical and electrical assembly of Cathtip equipment.
• Medical component production in a clean room manufacturing environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• This position may require lifting, moving and assembly of various machine parts and machinery up to 50 lbs. May require standing, stooping, and bending for long periods of time as needed to interact with machinery.

SKILLS

• Basic computer skills – MS Office & Windows, CAD knowledge (i.e. AutoCAD, Inventor, Pro-E, SolidWorks.)
• Good written and verbal communication skills needed in interactions with customers and CATHTIP team members.
• Willing to learn how to read and interpret wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings and technical documentation.
• Critical thinking and systematic approach to problem solving.
• Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Able to function in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
• Working knowledge of SOLIDWORKS or equivalent 3D CAD systems.
• Aptitude to learn and be a strong team player.
• Positive attitude and approach to problem solving.
• Willingness to communicate with customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION – Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an engineering field (ME preferred).

Verification of enrollment may be required as a condition of employment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will require the ability to work under pressing conditions in a professional and responsive manner. Must have a CAN-DO attitude to drive projects through to completion, displaying the ability to obtain results through an influential demeanor. In addition, the position requires: Working in varying environments and conditions, primarily in a controlled environment
