POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Respiratory Therapist 

Position Description Effective: 06/15/2023

Department: Nursing Services

Reports To: Director of Nursing

POSITION SUMMARY:

Windsor Lane Health Care is hiring for Full Time / Part Time Respiratory Therapist to help serve our patient needs. We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist who is self-motivated and a team player with commitment to excellence and delivering excellent customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Directs and performs pulmonary function testing on patients.
  2. Administers or directs the administering of gas, aerosol therapy and IPPB therapy.
  3. Supervises, performs or directs arterial punctures and analysis of arterial blood gasses.
  4. Maintains or supervises the maintenance and the removal of secretions through various methods.
  5. Places and supervises patients on ventilator and monitor them continuously.
  6. Supervises and performs ECGs and prepares them for physician interpretation.
  7. Discusses the condition and treatment of patients with the patient’s physician and cardiopulmonary staff members and recommends changes in care when indicated.
  8. Monitors cardiopulmonary services to assure quality and seek improvements.
  9. Provide quality assurance reports to the hospital Quality Assurance Committee.
  10. Maintaining stock levels of supplies and for obtaining and maintaining required equipment.
  11. Establish a system for the procurement, storage, control, and issue of cardiopulmonary supplies.
  12. Recommends equipment to be purchased or modification of existing equipment.
  13. Provides for the maintenance of equipment including preventive and periodic maintenance, and for its cleaning.
  14. Responsible for following departmental policies, procedures, and practices consistent with hospital policy.
  15. Assures compliance with federal, state and other regulations or standards pertaining to cardiopulmonary operations.
  16. Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on daily basis.
  17. Provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere.
  18. Follows aseptic procedures and procedures for using Universal Precaution when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially infectious materials.

OTHER DUTIES:

  1. The Respiratory Therapist interacts with residents, families, visitors, facility, and office personnel.
  2. Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/participation may be required.
  3. May be required to work rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, to work in different units and positions, and to work overtime as facility needs require.
  4. Must practice good personal hygiene and follow required dress code.
  5. Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Respiratory therapy: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • RRT/CRT (Required)
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (Required)

PHYSICAL INVOLVEMENT:

This is medium to occasionally heavy work requiring a combination of sitting, walking, bending, reaching overhead, climbing stairs, and standing. Frequent use of both upper and lower extremities necessary for ambulation and equilibrium. Frequent use of arms, hands, and fingers. Intact visual, auditory, and verbal capabilities essential. Involves pulling, pushing, moving, carrying, and lifting 75 pounds using proper body mechanics. Performs repetitive and/or continuous tasks. Must be able to assist with resident evacuation of residents during emergencies. Performs repetitive/continuous tasks.

$48.00 hour
