Overview

Responsible for overseeing the internal audit function of the bank. The internal audit function must independently and objectively evaluate and report on the effectiveness of the bank’s risk management, control, and governance processes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
• 3 years of bank audit experience

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Skill at interpreting and applying accounting (GAAP) and auditing principles
• Skill in gathering, compiling and organizing information
• Skill in analyzing information to formulate logical and objective conclusions
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent problem resolution and research skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
• Must be accurate, flexible, organized, and able to independently manage multiple priorities while meeting assigned deadlines

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the annual internal audit risk assessment, audit plan and audit procedures.
• Assist with implementation of FDICIA compliance requirements, including establishing key controls and adequate documentation.
• Prepare work papers reflecting the results of audits. Complete planned audits and special assignments in a high-quality fashion and ensure deviations from bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements are effectively communicated to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Prepare regular reports for management and the audit committee identifying deficiencies noted, recommended corrective action and status of corrective steps being taken.
• Schedule regular meetings with the bank’s audit committee to present results of audit reports and inform audit committee of key operating issues affecting the bank
• Collaborate with external auditors, internal audit staff, outsourced internal audit firms, regulators and consultants on audit and risk management functions.
• Recommend effective internal controls to promote accurate processing of transactions, safeguard and protect assets, prevent fraud, and ensure regulatory compliance as well as fairness of financial information.
• Monitor accounting standards and regulatory changes and perform appropriate tests to determine if operating procedures and controls are in place to ensure compliance with new requirements.
