Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Carrier Sales Representative to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with carriers to secure capacity and ensure timely delivery of trade show materials. The role requires strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Carrier Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with carriers, including negotiating rates, terms, and service agreements.
  • Evaluate carrier performance based on key metrics such as on-time delivery, communication, and reliability.
  • Identify new carrier partnerships to expand capacity and coverage across trade show locations.

Freight Coordination:

  • Coordinate the transportation of trade show materials from origin to destination, ensuring seamless execution and timely delivery.
  • Continuously monitor the movement of trade show materials in real-time, providing stakeholders with accurate updates on shipment status from pickup to delivery.
  • Proactively identify loads that are at risk of falling behind schedule, and promptly escalating issues to the appropriate manager for timely resolution and mitigation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather shipment details, including size, weight, and special handling requirements.
  • Provide ongoing communication and support to carriers throughout the shipment lifecycle, addressing any issues or concerns proactively.

Pricing and Cost Management:

  • Analyze market trends and pricing dynamics to optimize carrier selection and negotiate competitive rates.
  • Develop pricing strategies that align with company objectives while maximizing profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Ensure all necessary documentation, including bills of lading, permits, and customs paperwork, is accurate and complete.
  • Ensure all carriers contain the correct insurance and documentation to adhere to our regulation policies.
  • Provide guidance and support to carriers regarding regulatory requirements and best practices.

Customer Service:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers and carriers, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing exceptional service.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to anticipate customer needs and deliver customized solutions that meet their unique requirements.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and responsiveness in all interactions to enhance the overall customer experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in carrier sales, logistics coordination, or freight brokerage.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successfully securing favorable terms and rates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to build rapport and foster long-term partnerships.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and tools, such as TMS (Transportation Management System) and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) platforms.
  • Knowledge of trade show logistics and industry trends is a plus.
