THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR CURRENT CITY OF GLENDORA EMPLOYEES ONLY
In preparation for upcoming promotions, testing for Police Sergeant will be conducted to
establish an eligibility list. Per Lexipol Policy 1002.4 and City of Glendora Personnel Rules 5.7,
the list will be valid for 6 months, and can be extended up to an additional 12 months.
The promotional testing process will consist of the following components and will be weighted
as described below:
• Written Exercise 33.3 %
• Staff Evaluation 33.3 %
• Appraisal Interview 33.3 %
The Chief of Police will make a final selection.
Corporals and Officers interested in testing for the position of Police Sergeant must meet the
qualifications to be eligible for testing. Refer to Department Policy 1002 and City of Glendora

In addition, applicants must complete the following:
1. A memo to the Chief of Police expressing interest in the testing process. The
memo can include a summary of your qualifications and why you are interested in the
position. The memo is limited to two pages. It shall not have a plastic covering
sheet.
2. An application and required resume, limited to two pages, submitted through
NeoGov. A profile is required to apply.
Item one must be submitted to the Chief of Police by 1700 hours on Monday, July 1, 2024. The NeoGov application and required resume must also be submitted electronically by the same date and time. Late items will not be accepted.
The promotional testing process will consist of a Written Examination, Staff Evaluation, and
Appraisal Interview. Listed below are additional details of each of the testing components:
Written Examination: All candidates will report to the Library Friends Room at 1000 hours on Thursday, August 1, 2024. There will be no outside material allowed into the testing room. The Police Sergeant exam will consist of a written exam with an emphasis towards supervisory issues. The time limit for this written exercise will be two hours.

Staff Evaluations: Candidates will be evaluated by all sworn supervisors from the rank of Lieutenant up. The high and low scores will be eliminated. Staff Evaluations will be conducted on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at the supervisor staff meeting. Candidates do not need to be present.
Appraisal Interview: The candidates will have a traditional panel interview with three raters from within the law enforcement community. The date for the interviews will be Tuesday, August 13, 2024. The location and time of each candidate’s interview will be announced prior to the interview date.
The uniform of the day for the Appraisal Interview will be business attire.
Eligibility List: An eligibility list will be established based on the scores from the components in the Written Exam, Staff Evaluation and Appraisal Interview. Once Human Resources certifies the list, it will be provided to the Chief and posted per standard protocol. Pursuant to City Personnel Rules, the Chief may choose any qualified applicant on the Eligibility List.
Chief’s Interview: The Chief may schedule an additional interview that would be scheduled after the Eligibility List is established.
