The Rudder, an iconic restaurant and bar since the 1950s, is seeking full-time and part-time Barbacks . Located in the Rocky Neck neighborhood of Gloucester, The Rudder has a decidedly neighborhood vibe that is warm and inviting.

The restaurant also invites guests to visit us by boat and dine with us right on the water. Combining the fine food and attentive hospitality of Chef Barbara Lynch, The Rudder offers a rotating menu highlighting Gloucester’s local seafood and operates April-December each year (seasonal).

Candidates must have availability on weekends, days, and evenings as well as experience in a high volume full service restaurant.

Responsibilities Include :

• Maintaining stock, assisting during service and providing go-to support for all your bartenders' needs
• Clean / wipe down bar area counters, furniture, and tabletops
• Wash glassware
• Handle drink spills and broken glassware
• Restock and replenish liquor, garnishes, and bar supplies
• Empty trash and refill ice wells

Qualifications :

• Proper service etiquette and an enthusiasm for wine & spirits is valued
• Naturally creative and charismatic
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs
• Avid multitasker to adapt to a fast paced, high volume restaurant setting

Candidates should share a passion for ingredients, technique, discipline and hospitality. You must be available weekdays and / or weekends to be eligible for this position.

Part Time 2-3 shifts per week or Full Time 4-5 shifts per week Must be available for Lunch and / or Dinner shifts.
