The Role You Will PlayAs the Lab Manager of a fast growing Private Equity backed Agriculture/Manufacturing/Retail company you will be responsible leading and managing all Cannabis Laboratory initiatives. You will be responsible for all Cannabis laboratory operations and the finalization of the buildout of a brand new laboratory. This position will also manage the lab team as it grows to meet the demand. Ultimately this position can play a role in development new Cannabinoid products.
Background Profile
- Oversees production by creating and reviewing production schedule; studying and clarifying specifications; calculating requirements; assembling and weighing plant materials and supplies for extraction.
- QA/QC duties that require analytical testing for quality and consistency; data review
- Operating highly sophisticated extraction equipment; Processing concentrates and extracts
- Cleaning and maintenance of extraction equipment and laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), and standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; monitoring environment.
- Operating, maintaining, and making adjustments and repairs to laboratory equipment such as liquid chromatography systems, pumps, microscopes, balances, centrifuges, and other laboratory equipment
- Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms and working areas immaculate.
- Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware.
- Creation of SOPs, training records, and related documentation
- Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products.
- Reports to Executive Director on a bi-monthly basis with updates regarding production and processing schedule.
- Knowledge of and hands on experience with Supercritical Extraction and Rotary Evaporation
- Able to perform metabolic analysis HPLC and GC instrumentation
- Able to process samples by collection, extraction, preparing for analysis, and quantifying results.
- Familiar use of a wide range of pipettes and knowing their volume capabilities
- Scientific laboratory procedures and techniques as used in a chemistry laboratory
- Scientific laboratory equipment and apparatus
- Scientific methods of measurements
- Health and safety practices and precautions applicable to a chemistry laboratory
- Proper and safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances, and hazardous wastes
- Capabilities with computer systems, software, and hardware common to laboratories Recordkeeping procedures
- BS/BA Degree or greater with at least 4 years’ experience in a lab or manufacturing setting required
- QA/QC experience with HPLC and GC analysis highly preferred
- Scientific writing for processes, training, and procedures that require documentation
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check through the State of Maryland
