Summary:
Under the direction of the Environmental Health and Safety Manager for PBI-Gordon Companies, this position will develop, coordinate, and implement all corporate and site specific EHS policies and programs for the subsidiaries of PBI-Gordon Companies.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Environmental Health and Safety Manager in the development and administration of programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations related to environmental, health and safety that are applicable to the Company's locations.
  • Champion all aspects of EHS programs for subsidiaries.
  • Develop and implement training programs and monitor their performance to ensure that all required training is performed and effective.
  • Lead and manage site Safety Committee.
  • Provide technical support and information in the development of key metrics for EHS.
  • Ensure collection and reporting of information is completed to meet Corporate and Governmental reporting requirements.
  • Process and manage hazardous and nonhazardous waste within local state and federal requirements.
  • Act as main site liaison with EHS related government agencies during inquiries and site inspections.
  • Perform risk assessments and analysis for new and routine processes and equipment.
  • Review new and existing products and processes for employee exposure concerns and advise on appropriate process modifications or PPE requirements.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause corrective action plans, and drive appropriate corrective action implementation.
  • Review accident and injury data for trends and make appropriate recommendations to reduce risk and liability to site leadership.
  • Assist Management with medical management plan to ensure timely resolution of all worker's compensation claims.
  • Routinely review and audit facilities to evaluate the effectiveness of local programs.
  • Coordinate with Corporate EHS to close 3rd party and government EHS related audits and inspections of the site.
  • Provide advice and guidance to operational and functional staff regarding current and anticipated EHS issues.
  • Ensure SDS for all hazardous chemicals stored on site are collected and maintained in the Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) system.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • High School diploma required, Bachelor's degree in chemistry, safety, environmental science, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years in Environmental, Health and Safety in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge & experience in Federal OSHA regulations, including the development and implementation of compliance programs and worker training.
  • Knowledge & experience in Federal EPA, state, and local environmental regulations, including the management of hazardous and universal wastes, stormwater, and community right to know reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge & experience with US DOT, state, and local transportation regulations, including the management of receiving and shipping of hazardous materials.
  • Ability to lead and mentor specialized knowledge or training such as: Ergonomics, Powered Industrial Trucks, Material Handling, Electrical Safety, Incident Investigations and Emergency Procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues with varying levels of EHS knowledge.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate environmental, health and safety exposures and risks.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Suite and Outlook.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere and to work independently.
  • Ability to function under a shared services model.

  • Travel required in this position: 10-25%
