About the Role:
Occupational therapists evaluate and treat people who have injuries, illnesses, or disabilities to help them with vocational, daily living, and other skills that promote independence.
Responsibilities:
· Evaluating and assessing each referred student
· Developing a plan of treatment based on the assessment
· Interacting with teachers in: developing therapy schedules; following treatment strategies and activities in the classroom; and handling and positioning of the child
· Interacting with parents concerning student progress
· Providing in-service to teachers and parents to ensure treatment carry-over, in services for proper biomechanical process during the handling and transferring of students
· Maintaining accurate files for progress reporting and IEP development
· Attending IEP meetings to correlate a total treatment package for each student
Candidate Requirements:
· BA or MA degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program
· Currently licensed and /or eligible for licensure from the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, South Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners.
· Experience working with school age children is preferred.
· Bilingual skills preferred.
· Work effectively with and respond to diverse cultures or backgrounds.
· Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean and professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
· Have regular and punctual attendance.
· Follow all policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by the proper authorities.
· Comply with all applicable confidentiality laws and regulations governing student privacy, including, but not limited to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
