About the Role:

The Human Resources/Payroll Specialist supports all HR functions, with a strong focus on payroll, systems, benefits and operations. This multifaceted role will also assist the recruitment and employee engagement functions and provide departmental administrative support and assistance with various human resources projects. Reports to the Head of HR and works closely with the HR and Finance teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for all of Fine Fettle
  • Review, document, and enter expense reports that are paid via payroll checks
  • Maintain "Bottom's Up" report and Payroll reconciliation for Finance
  • Manage the Employee Newsletter - gather information to be included and ensure the final product is ready to be published
  • Complete employment verifications as needed
  • Maintain the HRIS system’s data; process new hires, changes and terms
  • Manage employee license requirements and renewals where appropriate.
  • Manage background check process for new hires and annual renewals.
  • Administer Health and Welfare Plans (medical, dental, vision, life disability, HSA, FSA)
  • Administer 401k plan and ensure compliance and competitive plan design.
  • Process enrollments/changes/terms of benefits plans, including COBRA Administration
  • Answer basic benefit plan questions from employees
  • Supporting HR-related training programs, workshops and seminars
  • Maintenance of personnel files
  • On site time required across all locations with up to 25% travel
  • Other tasks and duties as may be required and/or necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years HR experience or combination of education/equivalent experience
  • Experience with benefits enrollment/management including insurance and 401k
  • Highly organized
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • HRIS implementation/ maintenance
  • HR certification preferred
  • Goal oriented and success driven
  • Experience with large hourly workforce preferred
  • Union experience preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Normal office/retail environment
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures
  • Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs without assistance
  • Frequent bending and moving from sitting to standing and reverse
