Saucon Valley School District seeks a Food Service Coordinator, permanent position beginning the 24-25 school year.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s Degree or equivalent educational experience, with an academic major in one of the following areas: food & nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family & consumer sciences, nutrition education culinary arts, business, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in school district food service operations
• Serv-Safe Certified w/current Board of Health License
• PDE Trained in NSLP Procedures and Regulations
• Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification
• Possesses appropriate interpersonal communication skills to work with district personnel, Board Members, and the community
• Able to effectively use the district’s business, student information, food service software applications, in addition to Microsoft Office
• Act 34, Act 151, FBI, and/or other required clearances and/or documents

Responsibilities:

• Prepares and files state reports to obtain NSLP reimbursement
• Represents district at cooperative bid meetings
• Administers the National School Lunch Program for Saucon Valley School District
• Creates and monitors HACCP Procedures for district cafeterias as mandated
• Orders all items used in lunch service.
• Distributes, receives, and approves/denies applications for free and reduced-price meal benefits, completes required verification of benefits, maintains a confidential list of students.

• Ensures that free and reduced application data is recorded in student software (required by the Department of Education)
• Determines the utilization of USDA-donated commodity food for processing
• Ensures that accurate inventory records are maintained for yearly USDA audit
• Establishes the case value of commodities received for accurate accounting of revenue and expenses
• Make sure all positions are covered for staff using sick or personal days
• Regularly uses and checks the PEARS website for PDE/NSLP updates and changes. Files monthly requests for reimbursement
• Completes and submits yearly NSLP application and gathers data, completes and submits for other PDE annual food service reports
• Prepare and submit payroll sheets to the payroll clerk. Provide all food service employees with accurate and timely information regarding payroll, accident claims, worker compensation, and insurance.
• Coordinates menu planning and approves menus to ensure that each contains the required nutritional components
• Participates in regular professional development and monitors district compliance with local, state, and federal food service regulations
• Submit all cafeteria bills monthly
• Performs Direct Certification at a minimum of 3 times a year
• Attend monthly Safety Committee Meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Business Manager/Superintendent
