Position SummaryThe Facilities Technician II at Empower Pharmacy holds profound significance in ensuring the operational excellence and reliability of our manufacturing and facility systems. As a pivotal member of our team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of critical manufacturing equipment, from injectable process machinery to packaging lines. Your efforts will directly impact our ability to deliver high-quality medications that improve the health and well-being of countless individuals.
Daily, you will engage in both proactive and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring our facilities operate smoothly and efficiently. Your expertise in clean-room environments and automated equipment will be essential in supporting our rigorous manufacturing standards. By developing preventive maintenance schedules and swiftly addressing repair requests, you will contribute to minimizing downtime and optimizing production processes.
Beyond technical proficiency, this role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, where identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions are key. You will oversee inventory management, ensuring adequate stock of parts and supplies while maintaining meticulous records through our computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Collaborating closely with diverse teams, including contractors and consultants, you will lead projects and uphold our commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Performs setup and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment including washing machine, tunnel, isolator, filling and capping machine, autoclave, manufacturing vessels, and lyophilizer.
  • Performs troubleshooting of packaging equipment including labelers, inspection machines, and packaging line.
  • Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities including the maintenance of manufacturing and building equipment and systems (e.g., injectable process equipment).
  • Performs preventative and reactive maintenance on any facility system and assists manufacturing with process and machinery repairs and improvements.
  • Supports cleanroom manufacturing and non-sterile lab environments, which utilize manual, automated, and semi-automated equipment in a critical environment.
  • Develops preventive maintenance schedules and/or procedures.
  • Resolves requests for repairs and work orders, ensuring accurate documentation of parts and inventory utilized.
  • Solves technical issues by identifying root cause(s) and identifies both short-term and long-term countermeasures.
  • Inspects the quality of all repairs.
  • Manages inventory, including ordering replacement parts, tools, and supplies through procurement, and conducting physical parts inventories.
  • Records and documents working history on all equipment for facilities and engineering via a CMMS.
  • Manages projects and develops associated documentation.
  • Performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Performs well under limited supervision.
  • Works a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, to support operating schedule and the facility's needs.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate/Occupational Safety and Health Administration Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Communicates with all Empower staff and maintenance team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Knowledge And Skills
  • Project management skills a plus.
  • Organized self-starter with advanced problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of process equipment, single and three-phase electrical systems, electrical control systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems.
  • Must be trained and qualified to enter an International Organization for Standardization classified cleanroom under operator standards.
  • Ability to complete and maintain gown and gloving requirements to enter classified cleanroom within 15 minutes of notice from manufacturing.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools/equipment: such as hand drill, forklift, and scissor lift.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English verbally and orally.
  • Ability to research parts, drawings, diagrams, and schematics.

Experience And Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required. Advanced degree or trade school preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of facilities maintenance experience, with a focus on injectable manufacturing equipment operations & maintenance and preventative maintenance procedures, preferably in a current good manufacturing practice regulated environment.
  • Previous experience with maintaining/managing/troubleshooting equipment both building and production, preferably in pharmaceutical or healthcare industrial experience.
  • Experience with CMMS.
  • Experience in performing National Institute of Standards and Technology calibrations recommended.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365.
