NHS Ayrshire & Arran is Hiring a Catering Assistant Near Home, KS
- To assist the cook in charge as required in all aspects of delivery of the catering service.
- Maintain a high standard for all food preparation including preparing of sandwiches, salads, hot and cold meals and desserts.
- Plate up of meals ensuring the products are aesthetically presented and that they follow menu choices, dietary requirements and correct portion size at all times.
- Loading of food trolleys ensuring all items are supplied as ordered.
- Ensure that food temperatures are taken and recorded at required times.
- Ensure correct use and storage of food, minimising waste.
- Recording of all levels of food wastage after each service.
- Replenish ward stores and vending machines, where applicable, ensuring stock cards are completed and security of stock at all times.
- Service of meals and beverages to staff, patients and visitors ensuring portion control.
- Cash handling – operating cash register and recording and highlighting any discrepancies timeously.
- To update and maintain all appropriate Food Safety Records and taking appropriate action where necessary.
- Receipting of supplies ensuring stock rotation.
- Identify any issues regarding quantity or quality of deliveries, stock levels for food or food products and equipment faults – resolving basic problems and referring others to the Supervisor, Estates etc as appropriate.
- Undertake training as necessary for the job e.g. Elementary Food Hygiene training
- Completion of Catering Services Workbook.
- Must be able to work unsupervised and on their own in the absence of the Cook.
- Act as a mentor for newly appointed staff, providing training and instruction.
- Adhere to security procedures regarding premises, keys, equipment and materials.
- Complete surveys and/or audits as necessary to own work e.g. staff surveys.
