The Cyber Security Engineer will play a crucial role in safeguarding the WEA`s digital assets by proactively monitoring security alerts, conducting vulnerability scans, and working closely with the infrastructure team to remediate security issues. The role involves advising on best practices to secure infrastructure, systems, and applications, and leading the annual Cyber Essentials Plus recertification process.
Key areas of responsibility:Reporting into the Head of IT the successful candidate will:

• Continuously monitor security alerts and incidents and analyse and respond to security events promptly to mitigate risks
• Perform regular vulnerability scans on the organization`s systems and networks, identify, assess, and prioritize vulnerabilities, and work with the infrastructure team to remediate identified vulnerabilities
• Provide expert advice on security best practices for infrastructure, systems, and applications, and develop and maintain security guidelines and procedures
• Ensure compliance with internal and external security standards and lead the annual Cyber Essentials Plus recertification process
• Collaborate with various IT teams to enhance overall security posture and conduct security training and awareness programs for staff
• Generate regular reports on security status and progress, and maintain accurate documentation of security incidents, responses, and remediation efforts
