Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Prepare menu for approval that follows nutrition guidelines.• Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other foods.• Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients.• Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills, and fryers.• Handle and store ingredients and food.• To prepare, serve and clean up for the clients (you are required to prep for the next day).• Put all food away in proper containers, labeled with date.• Clean all surfaces and empty dishwasher.• Sweep and wet mop dining room and kitchen areas.• Remove all trash form the kitchen and dining areas.• Secure building by locking all applicable door prior to clocking out.• Supervise volunteers to help prepare, serve and cleanup. • Review inventory, rotate products, anticipate needs, and request supplies.• Keep accurate records and statistics.• Maintain food safety preparation.• Maintain a sanitary kitchen and dining area.• Supervise volunteers.

Qualifications

SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Knowledge of Food Service• Experience planning and cooking for large group• Safe-Serve food handling certification• Experience cooking different types of food• Knowledge of State and Federal Laws• Must meet the New York State Job and Family Service requirements to work with children, and vulnerable adults: pass a background check.
