Job Description-
Position- Sterile Processing Technician
Facility- Northwell Health & Long Island Jewish Medical Center
Location- 1001 S Oyster Bay Rd, Bethpage, NY 11714
And 270-05 76th Avenue, New Hyde Park, 11042
Shift- Days, Eve & Night//5x8//8 weeks
Time- 7A-3P//3P-11p//11p-7.30A//
Pay Rate- $1560 weekly gross for travellers &
$37/ hr for locals (those who are residing with in 50 miles from Facilities)
- CANDIDATE MUST HAVE MINIMUM 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS STERILE TECH
- CANDIDATE MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE BLS & CRCST CERTFICATE
Role Description
- All phases within Central Sterile and all services (including robotics). Utilize washers and atuoclaves -Steris & Sterrad Synergy Trak.
- Dissembles, cleans, sterilizes, reassembles and packages sterile supplies according to specifications and/or manufacturer instructions and follows department protocols
- Operates washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures.
- Adheres to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts.
- Retrieves used trays, instruments and equipment from various surgical and clinical hospital areas for decontamination.
- Examines instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly and functionality.
- Identifies malfunctioning items, records related information, and promptly notifies supervisor or biomedical engineer.
- Receives and fills requisitions from hospital departments and nursing units. Communicates with perioperative staff regarding related instrument needs.
- Assists in ordering, stocking and maintaining department inventory levels.
- Performs required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment.
- Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, required. Manual dexterity, ability to stand, bend, lift and/or reach for extended periods of time, required
Qualifications
- Decontamination, Sterilization, and Infection Control skills
- Experience in the operating room
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Experience in healthcare or related field is a plus
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is preferred
