The City of Indianola (pop. 15,833) is a growing community with a historic downtown, located approximately 15 minutes south of Des Moines. It is a safe community with Midwestern values, friendly people and excellent schools. Indianola, which is home to Simpson College, the world-renowned Des Moines Metro Opera and the National Balloon Museum and U.S. Ballooning Hall of Fame, is known for its excellent access to outdoor activities, a nice trail system, five major parks and two golf courses. The community welcomes thousands of visitors annually who come to Indianola to enjoy major events such as the National Balloon Classic, the Warren County Fair and other events.

This position is responsible for a number of tasks, including, but not limited to:

• Hire, supervise, train and direct assistant coaches.
• In conjunction with supervisor, prepare season training plan/themes/focus and develop team events.
• Plan, write, schedule, and direct all team practices and meets.
• Maintain proper records, team lists, and reports as needed.
• Address member concerns by appointment and/or phone conversations.

Minimum requirements include:

• Completion of high school or equivalent.
• Two years of competitive coaching experience.
• American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches (Lifeguard certification will be accepted with proof of successful completion of the online Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification)
• Must possess a current Registered USA Swimming Coach Certification within six months of employment and/or be able to obtain within 6 months of hire date and maintain license for duration of employment.

Starting salary is $12.50/hour. This is a part-time position with a schedule that could require work during the workday, at night or on the weekends. This is a non-union classified position. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a post-offer drug screening and background check.
