Pharmacy Technician duties and responsibilities

A Pharmacy Technician takes prescriptions and prepares medication for patients at the pharmacy, their other duties include:

  • Vaccination certification or willing to become a vaccinating technician.
  • Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions
  • Basic computer skills, understanding of web based programs and willingness to learn and work with new software programs
  • Reviewing and recording patient information with their prescription.
  • Stocking and re-ordering inventory for the pharmacy.
  • Maintaining the highest levels of patient confidentiality.
  • Providing a supportive team environment for self and other members of the pharmacy team
  • Supporting the Pharmacist in the daily operation of the pharmacy.
  • Protecting employees and patients by adhering to infection-control protocols and policies.
  • Follow all current Federal, State and/or local laws and rules regarding the practice of pharmacy
  • Disbursing completed and confirmed prescriptions to patients
  • Answering incoming calls and fielding patient questions in a professional manner.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe pharmacy by complying with regulations, rules and procedures
  • Being able to perform math calculations, write clear and/or concise notes for staff, effective verbal and non-verbal communication and ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of current trends in the world of pharmacy are helpful. For example; what are DIR fees, what is Med-Syn, what does a compounding pharmacy do, what is point of care testing, etc.

Work Experience: preferred, but willing to train if right candidate.

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 26 – 32 per week
